"I will not be going to Saudi Arabia. We have contacted our partners there. I have very good relations with the King," Zelensky said at a press conference in Ankara.
The President also addressed the talks held in Riyadh between U.S. and Russian delegations, stating, "Decisions on how to end the war in Ukraine cannot be made without Ukraine." He added, "We were not invited to the U.S.-Russia meeting in Saudi Arabia. This was unexpected for us, we learned about it from the media."
Zelensky urges Ukraine's participation in discussions and demands safety assurances
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that discussions about ending the war in Ukraine should not take place without Ukraine's involvement. He emphasized that Ukraine, Europe, including the EU, the UK, and Turkey, must be included in talks and the development of necessary security guarantees alongside the U.S. for this region.
While in Ankara, President Zelensky called for security guarantees for Ukraine, stressing that "all Ukrainians want an end to the war, but certainly with security guarantees."
During his visit, he and Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska, officially opened the new building of the Ukrainian Embassy in Ankara.
The Ukrainian leader expressed hope that the U.S., the EU, and Turkey, which play a key role in the region, would support Ukraine in this matter.
During his meeting with President Erdogan, Zelensky also discussed food security issues, recalling the cooperation between the two countries in creating the grain corridor through the Black Sea. Earlier, he honored the memory of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Turkey's first president, whose legacy remains a significant part of the country's history and values.
