Sweden confirms another subsea cable disruption in the Baltic Sea

A subsea cable in the Baltic Sea near the coast of Gotland has been damaged, Swedish authorities reported.

The cable, which connects Finland and Germany, is now the subject of an investigation by the Stockholm prosecutor's office.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson stated on X that he has been aware of the incident "for some time" and assured that the government is closely monitoring the situation.

He emphasized that all reports of infrastructure damage in the Baltic Sea are taken very seriously due to potential security threats. It remains unclear when exactly the cable was damaged.

 The head of the Swedish government assured that the authorities are continuously providing updates on the investigation.
