China appoints Lu Shaye as new ambassador to Poland

The Chinese Embassy in Warsaw announced that Lu Shaye, China’s new ambassador to Poland, arrived in the country on Wednesday, August 20, to take up his post as Beijing’s 21st envoy to Warsaw.

Born in 1964, Lu is a career diplomat with extensive experience in foreign affairs.

His previous postings include ambassadorships to France and Monaco (2019–2025), Canada (2017–2019), and Senegal (2006–2009).

In 2022 he was also involved in China’s diplomacy in Burkina Faso. Earlier in his career, the diplomat headed the Department of European Affairs at China’s foreign ministry, where he worked on relations with Central and Eastern Europe.

Lu succeeds Sun Linjiang, who in June was appointed China’s special representative for Eurasian affairs.
