Poland's Rzeczpospolita daily said it had learned unofficially that Trump would visit the country on August 31 and September 1 and that he would be the most important foreign guest at the international commemorations in the Polish capital.
The paper said it has established that while the US president’s visit has yet to be officially confirmed, it is essentially a done deal.
The daily also reported that Trump’s visit would be a day longer than originally expected.
Originally, the paper said, the plan was for Trump to come to Poland for just one day, September 1.
But under new arrangements, the American leader will spend two days in the country, August 31 and September 1, according to Rzeczpospolita.
The visit would mark a fourth meeting between Trump and Polish President Andrzej Duda, the paper noted.
Trump previously visited Poland in July 2017.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Duda visited Washington last month and in September last year.
A spokesman for the Polish president was earlier this year quoted as saying that officials from European Union, NATO and Eastern Partnership countries had been invited to take part in observances of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II on September 1.
Błażej Spychalski, press spokesman for the Polish head of state, also said at the time that no Russian officials had been invited to visit Poland to mark the anniversary.
Wojciech Kolarski, a senior aide to Poland's Duda, said earlier this year that German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier would likely visit Poland for anniversary events on September 1.
