To mark the alliance's 70th anniversary, the summit is held in London where NATO had its first headquarters.

On the first day of the gathering, President Duda and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, among others, will take part in a discussion on the future of the Alliance, an event held under the name “NATO Engages: Innovating the Alliance.”

Also on Tuesday, Poland’s President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser Duda are due to attend a reception for NATO leaders at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen.

In addition, the December 3-4 summit will see talks on defense spending, foreign missions as well as relations with Russia and China.

President Andrzej Duda expects a clear message from the London summit that NATO is united, senior Polish presidential aide Krzysztof Szczerski told the Polish News Agency PAP on Sunday.

Poland would like to see a decision on strengthening the alliance’s rapid response capacity, the official said.

During his visit to London, Polish President Andrzej Duda will posthumously promote Franciszek Kornicki, a Polish pilot and a squadron leader who fought in the British army during World War II.
