The commitment emerged during an agreement signed in Bucharest on Friday between Ciolacu and his Ukrainian counterpart, Denys Shmyhal, to bolster collaboration on Ukrainian foodstuff exports.

In a press briefing, Shmyhal mentioned discussions about repairing transport infrastructures harmed by Russian attacks. Efforts will also be focused on expediting border checks to hasten the transit of Ukrainian goods.

Ciolacu expressed intentions to amplify imports of Ukrainian food products, aiming to increase the monthly volume from 2 million tons to 4 million. The Romanian port of Constanța was identified as the pivotal point for these exports.

"We remain committed to supporting Ukraine as long as necessary," Ciolacu affirmed.

The development follows Russia's withdrawal from a Turkey-UN mediated grain deal last month, which had enabled Ukraine to export 32 million metric tons of various cereals. Russia's recent refusal to renew the deal was coupled with strikes on grain facilities along the Danube River.
