American military personnel stationed overseas have the opportunity to vote by absentee ballot, even while far from home.
To participate, each service member must notify their hometown or local election authorities in advance, indicating that they are serving abroad and wish to vote.
This notification can be made by phone, mail or email.
Once notified, election officials send out ballots, which the soldiers complete and return to the United States, where their votes are counted.
Many soldiers choose to vote by traditional mail, while others opt for online voting.
For some, this marks yet another election in which they are able to cast their ballots while serving abroad.
Around 140 US soldiers stationed at Camp Kościuszko in western Poland are eligible to vote in the Nov. 5 election, according to broadcaster RMF FM.
