Sikorski, who has been in the U.S. since Friday, will present Poland’s position during the resumed 11th Emergency Special Session of the General Assembly, where a resolution on a just and lasting peace for Ukraine is expected to be adopted.

At the UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, he will represent the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. While in New York, he will also hold several bilateral meetings.

According to Polish Foreign Ministry spokesperson Paweł Wroński, Sikorski will speak on behalf of the European Union at both the General Assembly and Security Council sessions.

On Sunday, Sikorski appeared on CNN, stressing the need for continued support for Ukraine. He argued that Putin is weaker than he appears: The Russian economy is struggling. He has thrown everything he has into the fight, losing thousands of soldiers just to capture one or two villages - only to create the illusion of strength, Sikorski added that with European support alone, Ukraine could continue defending itself until the end of the year.
