Sales of clothing and shoes increased 17.7 percent in Poland last month in year-on-year terms, and those of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics rose by 15.4 percent, the state-run statistics agency said.
Meanwhile, sales of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics decreased 4 percent, and those of motor vehicles went down by 10.6 percent, according to the Central Statistical Office.
In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 23.6 percent higher than in May 2021, the Central Statistical Office said.
In month-on-month terms, retail sales in May were 1.7 percent lower than in April, the statistics office also reported.
