Weighing just about a kilogram, the drone is small enough to fit into a soldier's uniform pocket or backpack, offering a highly portable solution for battlefield reconnaissance and combat operations.
WB Electronics, a specialist in unmanned systems, showcased the X-Fronter at the MSPO defense industry exhibition in Kielce, marking a significant development from the prototype first introduced two years ago.
According to Remigiusz Wilk from the company’s communication department, the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is now ready for deployment by the Polish military.
The drone is equipped with both daytime and thermal imaging cameras, allowing it to be used for surveillance. It can also be fitted with combat ammunition, transforming it into an offensive weapon.
“With a small and inconspicuous device carried by one soldier, we are able to destroy an armored vehicle,” Wilk explained.
In addition to combat capabilities, the X-Fronter can serve various tactical functions, including marking targets for destruction or acting as a flying flare. WB Electronics is also exploring the possibility of linking multiple drones into a combat swarm, where some would focus on observation while others, carrying payloads, could target enemy artillery.
