TVP Info reports that, thanks to a recent government decision, the minimum wage in Poland will exceed that of several U.S. states.
As confirmed by the Government Legislation Center, from the new year, the minimum hourly rate in Poland will be 30.50 PLN ($7.95), surpassing the minimum rates in several U.S. states.
In 2025, the minimum wage in Poland is set to increase to 4666 PLN gross ($1215.56), a significant rise from 1750 PLN gross ($455.90) in 2015, marking an increase of nearly 3000 PLN ($781.54) over ten years.
In the U.S., the federal minimum wage is not uniform and is at least $7.25 per hour, which at the current exchange rate translates to about 28 PLN ($7.29). This rate applies in states like Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Kansas, and Kentucky.
However, some U.S. states have significantly higher minimum wages, such as $17.50 in the District of Columbia, $16.28 in Washington, and $16.00 in California. Despite this, many places in the U.S. still have lower minimum wages compared to the minimum hourly rate in Poland starting in January 2025.
According to calculations by a Polish capital markets expert, the new minimum wage in Poland next year will be higher than in 18 U.S. States.
