A fire broke out near the village of Sulechówko, about 19 miles (30 kilometers) from Koszalin, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, around noon. Firefighters spent seven hours securing the scene.

Due to the height of the wind turbine, firefighters were unable to use ladders, so their actions were limited to preventing the fire from spreading further.

Initial findings suggest that the cause of the fire may have been a lightning strike. The fire posed no threat to local residents, as the turbines are located far from inhabited areas.

The affected turbine is part of the Potęgowo wind farm, under the Sulechówko subproject, which consists of 29 wind generators.

According to TVN24, the burnt blades belonged to a turbine at the Potęgowo wind farm, part of the Sulechówko subproject, which features 29 turbines, each with a capacity of 2.75 MW.

A spokesperson for the fire service explained that the turbines are located far from residential areas, meaning the fire posed no risk to nearby inhabitants.
