There were around 787,000 people without jobs across the nation at the end of December, up by 12,600 from a month earlier, according to the government.
The state-run Statistics Poland agency (GUS) reported last month that the Polish jobless rate had risen to 5 percent in November, from 4.9 percent in October.
Meanwhile, the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated this month that unemployment in Poland stood at 3 percent in November, marking one of the lowest rates in the 27-nation bloc.
