Around 199,900 new homes built in Poland in 2024: stats office

Builders completed around 199,900 new homes in Poland last year, marking a 9.6-percent drop from a year earlier, the country’s statistics office has reported.

Meanwhile, the number of housing starts throughout 2024, at around 233,800, was 23.7 percent higher than in 2023, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said in a preliminary estimate.

It reported last week that the number of dwellings under construction, at around 834,800 as of the end of December, was 4.2 percent higher than the year before.

Overall output in Poland's construction-and-assembly sector fell by 8 percent in December in year-on-year terms, while increasing by 30.6 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency also reported.

In 2023, Polish builders completed around 220,400 new homes, a decrease of 7.6 percent from 2022, according to Statistics Poland.
