Polish retail sales 1.9% up y/y in December: stats office

Retail sales in Poland went up by 1.9 percent in December at constant prices compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s statistics office has reported.

Sales of motor vehicles shot up by 25.1 percent in December in year-on-year terms, and those of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics rose by 1.7 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

Meanwhile, sales of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics went down by 4 percent, and those of clothing and shoes dropped 12.2 percent, according to Statistics Poland.

In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 2.7 percent higher than in December 2023, Statistics Poland said.

In month-on-month terms, retail sales in December were 9.9 percent higher than in Novemberthe statistics office also reported.
