It received the accolade in the Sports and Recreational Facilities category.
The project is described as not only a functional space, but “an aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly hub that serves the Wrocław community, […] a lively gathering place offering diverse activities and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle for all residents.”
The Aquapark was designed by the AP Szczepaniak architectural office, which was founded in 1999 by brothers Artur and Paweł Szczepaniak.
According to the project’s profile on the Architecture & Design Collection Awards website, the facility “includes four pools: a 25×14.5 meter sports pool, a learning pool for swim lessons, a seasonal outdoor pool, and a pool with hydromassage features. The second floor hosts three saunas and two fitness rooms, offering a range of recreational and relaxation options.”
The website adds that the project “incorporates numerous eco-friendly technologies to reduce its environmental impact. The facility features heat pumps, gas generators, and rooftop photovoltaic panels, supplying up to 50% of its energy needs—reaching as high as 70% under optimal conditions.
"Furthermore, the surrounding landscape is enriched with abundant greenery, including trees, shrubs, grasses, and flowers, planted in collaboration with local school children and senior citizens.”
The Architecture & Design Collection Awards aim to recognize the most talented architects and designers and to promote modern trends and innovative technologies.
