It quoted Kościński as saying that he was honoured to be “Poland's candidate for the position.”
Kościński said on Wednesday that his bid for the London-based bank would “not interfere” with his duties as finance minister, according to PAP.
Kościński, a graduate of Goldsmiths, University of London, took over as Poland’s finance minister in November to replace Jerzy Kwieciński.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is an international financial institution that supports projects in more than 30 countries. The bank is owned by 69 countries from five continents, as well as the European Union and the European Investment Bank.
It was set up in 1991 to invest in the former communist countries of Eastern Europe to help them make the transition to a free-market economy.
