Polish industrial production up 19.2% y/y in January: stats office

Industrial production in Poland rose 19.2 percent in January compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported on Friday.

The reading was markedly higher than forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 13.6 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in January was 3 percent lower than in December, the Central Statistical Office said.

According to the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, industrial production in Poland rose 14.1 percent in December, the third-fastest rate of growth in the 27-nation bloc.
