The Czech Republic boasted the lowest jobless rate in the bloc in February, at 2.4 percent, while Germany and Malta trailed Poland in joint third place, each with 3.1 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.

Meanwhile, Spain had the highest seasonally-adjusted jobless rate in the EU, at 12.6 percent, while Greek unemployment was the second-highest at 11.9 percent, the agency's data showed.

Eurostat reported that the EU average for February was 6.2 percent, down from 6.3 percent in January.

Poland’s Central Statistical Office (GUS), which uses a different methodology, reported last month that the Polish jobless rate held steady at 5.5 percent in February, unchanged from January.
