The reading was lower than forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 16.7 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.
In month-on-month terms, Polish industrial production in May was 1.4 percent higher than in April, the Central Statistical Office said.
Meanwhile, the country's seasonally-adjusted industrial production increased by 11.9 percent in year-on-year terms in May, while falling 1.7 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency also said.
According to the European Union’s Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, seasonally-adjusted industrial production in Poland rose 15.8 percent in April, the fourth-fastest rate of growth in the 27-nation bloc.
