Polish inflation at 17.2% in September: flash estimate

Inflation in Poland stood at 17.2 percent in year-on-year terms in September, the country’s statistics office said in a flash estimate on Friday.

The figure was 0.6 percentage points higher than forecast by economists polled by Poland’s PAP news agency.

In Augustthe prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 16.1 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency.

In JulyPoland's consumer price index stood at 15.6 percent, Statistics Poland reported.

The Polish central bank’s Monetary Policy Council last month raised key interest rates for the 11th consecutive time in a bid to tame inflation.
