Poland allocates EUR 3.5 bln to farmers amid Russia's war on Ukraine

Poland has already allocated PLN 15.4 billion (EUR 3.5 billion) to help its farmers deal with the effects of Russia’s February 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the agriculture ministry has said.

This includes PLN 2.6 billion (EUR 584 million) in 2022, PLN 10.036 (EUR 2.3 billion) in 2023 and PLN 2.789 billion (EUR 627 million) in subsequent years, the PAP news agency reported.

The biggest chunk of aid has been earmarked for subsidies to help Polish farmers purchase  fertiliser (PLN 7.3 billion - EUR 1.6 billion) and for cash-flow loans (PLN 2.8 billion - EUR 450 million), according to officials.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
