Employment, wages up in Polish firms y/y in July: stats office

Employment in Polish companies rose by 0.1 percent in July on average in year-on-year terms, the country’s statistics office reported on Monday.

Meanwhile, average wages in Poland's corporate sector in July increased by 10.4 percent compared with the same month a year earlier, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

The average gross Polish monthly wage last month was PLN 7,485.12 (EUR 1,670, USD 1,820), according to the statistical office.

The figures are for companies with more than nine employees.

Family and Social Policy Minister Marlena Maląg this month estimated that Poland's unemployment rate held steady at 5 percent in July, unchanged from June.

There were around 782,400 people without jobs across the nation at the end of July, down by 1,200 from a month earlier, according to the government.
