The figures were unveiled by the commissioner for Polish-Ukrainian development cooperation, Jadwiga Emilewicz, on Monday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Emilewicz told an event in Warsaw on Monday that some 600 Polish companies continued doing business in Ukraine despite Russia’s full-scale invasion in February last year.

“Many of them have boosted their turnover in a significant way,” she said.

Emilewicz added that “Poland’s exports to Ukraine tripled by the end of 2022, to EUR 9 billion” and that her country "has become Ukraine’s largest economic partner in Europe and second-largest in the world, after China."

She also said that in the first five months of this year, Poland’s exports to Ukraine rose by 52 percent compared with the corresponding period of 2022.

'Poland has a very strong presence in Ukraine'

Emilewicz stated that “Poland has a very strong presence in Ukraine,” notably when it comes to the export of arms, as well as machinery and equipment, and agri-food products.

She unveiled a new guide for Polish investors, detailing the rules of public tenders in Ukraine, the PAP news agency reported.

The publication is designed to enable Polish firms to operate efficiently and compete effectively on the Ukrainian market, according to officials.

The guide provides practical information about how to tender for government contracts in Ukraine, and answers many frequently asked questions, they said.

The publication can be downloaded here.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Tuesday is day 615 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
