Sales of motor vehicles shot up by 15.7 percent in August in year-on-year terms, and those of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics rose by 11.2 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.
Meanwhile, sales of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics went down by 5.3 percent, and those of clothing and shoes dropped 13.6 percent, according to Statistics Poland.
In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 3.2 percent higher than in August 2023, Statistics Poland said.
In month-on-month terms, retail sales in August were 1.1 percent higher than in July, the statistics office also reported last week.
