There were around 767,100 people without jobs across the nation at the end of October, down from 771,000 a month earlier, according to the government.

Officials said the number of unemployed was lower than in any October since 1990.

The state-run Statistics Poland agency (GUS) reported last month that the Polish jobless rate had stayed flat at 5 percent in September, unchanged from August.

Meanwhile, the European Unions Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, estimated this month that unemployment in Poland stood at 2.9 percent in September, marking the second-lowest rate in the 27-nation bloc.
