70% of Polish food shoppers opt for discount stores: survey

Seventy percent of Poles say they most often buy food at discount stores, while 14 percent prefer to shop in large supermarkets, according to a recent survey.

Meanwhile, 12 percent of Polish grocery shoppers opt for small neighborhood stores, the survey found.

The study also shows that for 82 percent of customers, the distance to the retail outlet from where they live is a key factor, while 18 percent disagree, Poland's PAP news agency reported.

The survey was carried out this summer on a nationwide random sample of 1,082 adult respondents using the computer assisted web interview (CAWI) method.
