Rainbow Friday, organized by the GrowSPACE Foundation, has been held in Polish schools since 2016 to promote diversity and create a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Previously, the event faced considerable opposition from the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) government, which was known for its homophobic stance.

This year, for the first time, it has received support from the Mazovian education board, and associated activities include workshops on mental health, anti-discrimination, and equality education.

The educational materials for schools offer lesson plans on LGBTQ+ allyship and e-learning courses. Special focus is given to eastern Poland, where these initiatives have been less common.

Organizers collaborate with local communities to foster inclusivity in smaller towns like Mielec and Tarnobrzeg, with additional support from the Sexed Foundation, whose ambassador, internationally renowned model Anna Rubik, promotes sexual education among youth.

Rainbow Friday is also supported by the embassies of Denmark, Norway, and Belgium, aiming to show young people that schools can be welcoming environments for exploring their identities.
