Located on the border between southeastern Poland and western Ukraine, the road crossing was reopened in the presence of Poland's Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Tomasz Siemoniak, and Ukraine's Deputy Minister for the Development of Territorial Communities, Serhiy Derkach.
"Smooth border crossing in both directions is, from our perspective, an important element of support for Ukraine," emphasized Minister Siemoniak, who also serves as the coordinator of Poland’s special services.
The minister highlighted that the opening of the crossing is another step in building the infrastructure needed to strengthen Polish-Ukrainian relations, especially in the context of supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia's aggression.
The choice of the opening date for the new border crossing between Poland and Ukraine was not accidental. December 21 marked the anniversary of Poland's accession to the Schengen Area, which enabled the free movement of people between EU countries.

During his speech, Tomasz Siemoniak expressed hope that in the future, Ukraine would join the EU and Schengen, making the Malhowice-Niżankowice crossing unnecessary.
The opening of the new border crossing is an important step in supporting Ukraine and improving communication between Poland and Ukraine.
