"This is an absolute priority for us. We want cardiovascular diseases… to be properly treated,” said Morawiecki.
Health Minister Adam Niedzielski, meanwhile, said that the coronavirus pandemic has “not only caused havoc in terms of a large number of infections and deaths, but also contributed to… a fall in the number of operations performed, including cardiological procedures."
He added: "That is why we decided with the prime minister to draw up a plan to rebuild Poles’ health.”
Poland on Thursday reported 7,008 new coronavirus infections and 456 more deaths, bringing its total number of cases during the pandemic to 1,570,658 and fatalities to 40,177.
Earlier this month, officials announced plans to set up a network of centres to improve the quality of healthcare for Polish patients with cancer, which alongside heart disease is a leading cause of death.
