This initiative, established under legislation enacted at the end of 2023, allocates annual funding of at least PLN 500 million and will continue until December 31, 2028, with a total budget of PLN 2.5 billion.
The program supports couples eligible for six assisted reproduction procedures, with different age limits for men and women. To date, 8,000 individuals have participated, with 3,000 beginning IVF treatment.
It covers women up to 42 years old using their own eggs or donor sperm, women up to 45 years old using donor eggs or embryos, and men up to 55 years old.
Additionally, the initiative offers support to patients undergoing or preparing for cancer treatment by funding procedures related to the collection, freezing, and storage of reproductive cells.
Infertility in Poland, classified by the WHO as a civilization disease, affects approximately 3 million people, with 35,000 to 40,000 couples requiring advanced reproductive techniques each year.
