Home completions up in Poland in January: stats office

Builders in Poland completed 3.8 percent more homes in January than in the same month last year, the country’s statistics office has reported.

Around 15,500 housing units were completed nationwide in the first month of this year, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

It added that the number of housing starts last month, at around 17,200, was 9.6 percent higher than in the same period a year earlier.

Meanwhile, overall output in Poland’s construction-and-assembly sector increased by 4.3 percent in January in year-on-year terms, while decreasing by 58.2 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency also reported on Thursday.

Builders completed around 199,900 new homes in Poland last year, a decrease of 9.6 percent from 2023, Statistics Poland said last month in a preliminary estimate.
