The event took place at Poland’s Permanent Mission to the UN as part of President Duda’s visit to the U.S.

Eisenberg, known for playing Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network, shared that his connection to Poland deepened while working on his film A Real Pain, which follows two Jewish-American cousins traveling to Poland to explore their family roots.

He applied for Polish citizenship last year, explaining that while his ancestors had lived in Poland far longer than in America, he was the first in his family to rediscover that history and reconnect with the country.

The film, which Eisenberg directed and starred in, received additional recognition after his co-star Kieran Culkin won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
