Belgium, who finished third in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, remain at the top of the FIFA rankings, ahead of world champions France.
Brazil are at No. 3, ahead of England in fourth spot.
Poland at the end of last month lost 1-2 to England in their third 2022 World Cup qualifier in London.
The Polish team, under its new Portuguese manager Paulo Sousa, opened its 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign with a 3-3 away draw with Hungary in Budapest on March 25.
The Poles, captained by star striker Robert Lewandowski, FIFA's world player of the year for 2020, then beat Andorra 3-0 in their second qualifier at home on March 28.
They will now take on Albania in their next World Cup qualifying fixture at home on September 2.
The Polish team will in June face Slovakia, Spain and Sweden in the group stage of this year's European championships, a tournament rescheduled from last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Poland in 2017 had climbed to No. 5 in the FIFA table, the best result for the Polish team since the world football governing body’s ranking was launched in 1992.
Poland's lowest place in the world rankings was 78th, in 2013.
