Poland on Wednesday picked up their fifth straight win at the EuroVolley championships, defeating Ukraine 3-0 in their final group-stage match on home turf in the southern city of Kraków.
The Poles, who are reigning world champions, will play Finland for a place in the quarterfinals of the continental tournament on home soil in the Baltic city of Gdańsk on Saturday.
The Polish team beat Portugal 3-1 in their opening game at the Men's European Volleyball Championship last Thursday and followed up with a 3-2 win against Serbia two days later and a 3-1 victory over Greece on Sunday.
Poland is jointly hosting the 2021 EuroVolley championships, which are also being held in the Czech Republic, Estonia and Finland from September 1 to 19.
The Polish team, under Belgian coach Vital Heynen, reached the quarterfinals of the volleyball tournament at this summer's Tokyo Olympics, where it was knocked out by eventual gold medal winners France.
