Tennis: Poland’s Hurkacz through to 3rd round in Montreal

Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz has made it through to the third round of the men's singles at the Canadian Open tennis tournament in Montreal.

The 25-year-old Pole, ranked world No. 10 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), defeated Finnish player Emil Ruusuvuori in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2, in their second-round encounter on Tuesday.

Up next for Hurkacz in Montreal is the winner of a match pitting Argentina's Diego Schwartzman against Spaniard Albert Ramos-Viñolas.

Hurkacz in June won his fifth ATP singles title by beating world No. 1 Daniil Medvedev in the final of the Halle Open grass-court tennis tournament in Germany.

The 2022 Canadian Open runs until Sunday.
