Poland have lost 1-2 to the Netherlands in their first match at the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship.

The game was part of Group D, which also includes France and Austria.

Poland took the lead in the 16th minute with a header from Adam Buksa.

However, the Netherlands equalized in the 29th minute with a goal from Cody Gakpo.

The decisive goal came in the 83rd minute when Wout Weghorst scored, securing the win for the Netherlands.

Poland faces a tough challenge in advancing to the knockout stages.

The team's difficulties were compounded even before the match, with the news that star striker Robert Lewandowski would not play in Poland's first match due to a thigh injury.

In the next fixture of Group D, France will take on Austria on Monday.

Poland's next match is scheduled for June 21, 2024, where they will face Austria.

The 2024 UEFA European Football Championships is taking place across ten stadiums in Germany.
