The Polish world No. 1 saw off the 59th-ranked French player 6-1 6-1 in their second-round clash on Monday.

The 23-year-old Pole, who last month won her fourth French Open title in Paris, will next face Wang Xiyu of China for a place in the fourth round of the Olympic tennis tournament.

Świątek has expressed her desire to win Olympic gold this year, bolstered by the fact that the tournament is being held on her favourite clay surface.

She hopes to make amends in Paris after an unsuccessful campaign in Tokyo. Many consider her the country's best chance for a gold medal at the 2024 Games.

Meanwhile, Poland's 41st-ranked Magda Linette bowed out of the women's singles competition in Paris after losing her second-round match against Italian Jasmine Paolini 4-6, 1-6 on Monday.

Linette is scheduled to play another match in Paris later on Monday, taking on Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk and Dayana Yastremska in the women's doubles together with countrywoman Alicja Rosolska.
