On Thursday, the two tennis players took a break for a Halloween prank.
Świątek and Sabalenka were in great spirits just before the tournament begins on Saturday, sharing the wonderful atmosphere of their joint preparations on social media.
The stakes in their competition include the position of year-end ranking leader. The athletes posted photos and videos from their training session, showcasing the fun they had together.
To defend her title, Świątek needs not only to perform well in the WTA Finals but also to rely on Sabalenka's weaker form, as the Belarusian currently leads the ranking with a 1,046-point advantage over the Pole.
Świątek can earn a total of 1,500 points in the tournament by winning all her group matches, as well as the semifinal and final.
However, even a victory in Riyadh may not be enough, as Sabalenka could maintain her lead by securing three group wins or advancing to the final with just one group victory, Polish media reported.
Despite her intense training and hard work on the court, Świątek didn’t forget about Halloween and was spooked by a prank organized by the WTA.
