Hubert Hurkacz withdraws from Abu Dhabi, Iga Świątek returns to the game

On Thursday, December 19, Iga Świątek will begin competing in the World Tennis League in the United Arab Emirates. Another top Polish tennis player, Hubert Hurkacz, has pulled out of the event, as announced by his team.

Polish player Iga Świątek will compete for Team Eagles, a squad that, as previously speculated, was expected to include Hubert Hurkacz before his withdrawal from the Abu Dhabi tournament was announced.

Joining Świątek on the team are Spaniard Paula Badosa, Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Kazakhstan's Aleksandr Shevchenko.

The World Tennis League tournament kicks off in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, December 19, and will run for four consecutive days.

Świątek will play both doubles and singles in the Eagles vs. Kites match, with the winners advancing to the final on Sunday.
