Zbigniew Boniek, a famous former Poland football player, clinched the No. 1 spot for the fourth time.
Former ski-jumping champion Adam Małysz was ranked No. 2, while star striker and soccer goal machine Robert Lewandowski was third.
The ranking was drawn up by Forbes magazine and the Pentagon Research group.
If only athletes, rather than officials, were included, Poland captain Lewandowski would come top, ahead of ski jumper Kamil Stoch and basketball player Marcin Gortat.
Lewandowski was also the most written-about Polish athlete this year, state news agency PAP reported.
