The Polish hitman beat second-placed Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and third-placed Argentine ace Lionel Messi to walk away with the prize at the glamorous annual gala on Sunday.
The award capped off a remarkable year for Lewandowski, who earlier this month was announced the winner of world football's governing body FIFA’s 2020 Best Men's Player award.
Lewandowski, who is a striker for Champions League winners Bayern Munich and also captains Poland’s national squad, scored 47 goals in 44 games for his club and country this year.
He was on target 15 times as his Bayern won the Champions League, becoming the competition’s top scorer.
The Polish goal machine was last week voted the world’s best football player in 2020 in an annual poll held by the British newspaper The Guardian.
The 32-year-old was in early October named UEFA Player of the Year, a major European football honor adding to a long list of accolades for the Polish marksman.
