Lewandowski’s goals at Camp Nou on Tuesday night came in the 56th and 85th minutes of play and marked the 74th and 75th times the Polish star striker has scored in the Champions League across 97 matches.

The 33-year-old Pole, FIFA's world player of the year for 2020, is the competition’s third-highest all-time scorer, behind Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentina’s Lionel Messi.

Several other Poland internationals, among them Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, Red Bull Salzburg centre-back Kamil Piątkowski and Dynamo Kyiv defender Tomasz Kędziora, are also hoping to make their mark in this season’s Champions League.

Thirty-two teams will take part in a total of six rounds of fixtures in the Champions League group stage, which kicked off on Tuesday and will conclude on December 8.

The Champions League final will be played on May 28 next year in St. Petersburg, Russia.
