Poland on Tuesday picked up their seventh straight win at the EuroVolley championships, defeating Russia 3-0 in the quarterfinals on home turf in the Baltic city of Gdańsk.

The Poles, who are reigning world champions, will now play either the Czech Republic or Slovenia for a place in the final of the continental tournament on Saturday.

The Polish team beat Portugal, Serbia, Greece, Belgium, Ukraine and Finland in its previous games at the Men's European Volleyball Championship.

Poland is jointly hosting the 2021 EuroVolley championships, which are also being held in the Czech Republic, Estonia and Finland from September 1 to 19.

The Polish team, under Belgian coach Vital Heynen, reached the quarterfinals of the volleyball tournament at this summer's Tokyo Olympics, where it was knocked out by eventual gold medal winners France.
