Legia, Poland’s most successful football club, went through 6-5 on aggregate, despite losing the first leg 1-2 in Warsaw a week earlier, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Juergen Elitim, Marc Gual, Tomáš Pekhart, Maciej Rosołek and Ernest Muçi all got on the scoresheet in the Austrian capital, in an impressive performance by the Polish side, according to news outlets.
Legia now face FC Midtjylland of Denmark in a two-legged play-off round on August 24 and 31, European football’s governing body UEFA announced.
The winners of the tie will join 31 other teams in the 2023/24 UEFA Europa Conference League group stage.
In May, Legia won the 2023 Polish Cup.
On July 16, the Warsaw club also claimed the 2023 Polish Super Cup, after beating league champions Raków Częstochowa on penalties.
