The Pole, ranked no. 69 in the world, beat the 19-ranked Caroline Garcia of France 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) in their Round 2 (Round of 64) match on Wednesday, for the biggest win of her career so far.

Fręch will now face off against Anastasia Zakharova in Round 3 (Round of 32).

Meanwhile, Poland's top tennis players, the world No. 1 Iga Świątek and the 9-ranked Hubert Hurkacz, play their Round 2 (Round of 64) matches on Thursday.

Świątek faces America's Danielle Collins, while Hurkacz takes on the Czech Republic's Jiri Mensik, for a place in Round 3 (Round of 32) of the year's first Grand Slam tournament, on the hard courts of Melbourne Park.

Poland's Athlete of the Year Świątek reached the semi-finals of Australian Open in 2022.
