Table tennis: Eight Poles to vie for world honours in South Korea

Eight Polish table tennis players, four women and four men, have been selected to compete in the World Table Tennis Team Championships starting in Busan, South Korea, later this week.

Team Poland will feature Natalia Bajor, Anna Węgrzyn, Katarzyna Węgrzyn and Zuzanna Wielgos on the women's side, and Jakub Dyjas, Miłosz Redzimski, Maciej Kubik and Samuel Kulczycki on the men's side, officials have announced.

The championships will be held from February 16 to 25 and offer a qualifying path for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

In the group stage of the tournament, the Polish women's team will be pitted against Germany, Slovakia, Mexico and Nigeria, while the men's team will face hosts South Korea, New Zealand, Chile and India.

Tomasz Redzimski, the coach of the Polish men's team, said: "Participating in the World Table Tennis Team Championships is truly special, fulfilling both personal and coaching dreams. I'm ready to devote all my strength and energy to preparing our players for each match in the tournament."
