The 21-year-old, who rides for the Lidl-Trek cycling team, on Wednesday finished ahead of Italy's second-placed Diego Ulissi and the Netherlands' third-placed Wilco Kelderman in the annual race's 237.9 km third leg between the southwestern Polish city of Wałbrzych and the spa town of Duszniki-Zdrój near the Czech border.

The fastest Pole, Piotr Pękala, finished 28th, 34 seconds behind the winner.

Meanwhile, Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard, who finished runner-up in the second stage of the 2024 Tour de Pologne a day earlier, retained the race leader’s yellow jersey.

Belgium's Nys, who also won the opening stage of this year's Tour de Pologne on Monday, is 30th after the first three legs of the race, 2 minutes 58 seconds behind the leader.

The fourth leg of the 81st Tour de Pologne will see cyclists cover a 195.3 km route starting in the picturesque health resort of Kudowa-Zdrój and ending in the southern town of Prudnik.

The remaining stages of the 2024 Tour de Pologne end in the southern industrial city of Katowice, the Tatra mountain resort of Bukowina Tatrzańska and the historic city of Kraków.

More than 150 riders from 22 teams based in various countries are taking part in the seven-stage 1,050 km race, which runs until Sunday.
