Two more Paralympic medals for Poland: sports ministry

Polish tennis players Natalia Partyka and Patryk Chojnowski have advanced to the semifinals of their respective singles competitions at the Paris Paralympics, securing two more medals for their country, according to the Polish Ministry of Sport and Tourism.

Partyka, a four-time Olympian, has earned her second medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Summer Games by advancing to the semifinals of the women's singles Class 10 competition, with a 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 13-11) win over Turkey's Merve Demir.

The Polish superstar previously claimed a bronze medal in the doubles.

Partyka needed just half an hour to defeat her singles quarterfinals opponent and will face Taiwan's Tian Shiau-wen in the semifinals on Tuesday.

On Saturday, Partyka and Karolina Pęk earned a bronze medal for Poland in the women's doubles Class 20 event.

The 35-year-old Partyka, a native of the Baltic city of Gdańsk, has now accumulated a total of 10 Paralympic medals, including six golds from Athens, Beijing, London, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.

She has also competed in four Olympics, from Beijing 2008 to Tokyo 2020.

Poland has so far won six Paralympic medals in Paris, positioning it 20th in the overall standings.
