Poland will play Portugal away on Friday and take on Scotland at home three days later.

Manager Michał Probierz last week released a list of 29 football players called up for the two games.

However, team captain Robert Lewandowski has since sustained a back injury and will miss both matches, according to Probierz.

Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zieliński is expected to replace the Barcelona marksman as Poland captain.

After four rounds of fixtures, Poland are third in their Nations League Group A1, six points behind Portugal and three points back of second-place Croatia.

The Nations League is the European football governing body UEFA’s newest national-team competition and is now in its fourth edition.

Portugal won the first edition of the Nations League in 2019, while France won the 2020/2021 UEFA Nations League, and Spain triumphed in the 2022/2023 season.
